and also into Ham radio (amateur radio Extra Class).

Welcome, @jbell! There are a few Hams here as well as a wealth of knowledge on most topics both software and hardware.  I learned so much from reading and asking questions that I soon came to realize how much I didn't know.  You certainly have a varied background of technical hobbies, and in my view, you'll be elbow deep in robotics, etc. before you know it!  Enjoy.

Bill has done a lot of Arduino, and I'm sure there will be more.

I've done nothing with Micro-Bit; but posted it as a thought for Bill.

It's really meant for kids!

@azflyer

Welcome to the Forum.  Your post was in the "Power Supply" thread, and as you said yourself, in the wrong place.  So I'm 'replying' to your post from the thread 'Introduce Yourself.'  Now all you need to do is leave a reply below this post to introduce yourself in the right place.

By the way, the purpose of the "@" symbol in front of your username is so the forum will send you an email that someone has responded to something you posted.  If I had just put your username in the greeting above, without the @ symbol, you would have just had to stumble across this post, because you would not have been notified.

I have been working on a sketch for Arduino to control a Rotary Table for milling gears etc.

I found some good help on YouTube from the guy that hangs around here so I decided to join the insanity...

My wife informed me the other day that we were getting computer poor and tool poor, goes with the territory 😉

@mohamer

Hi Mohamer, welcome to the forum, which can be as crazy and far fetched as Mad Cow Disease.

You will find something here to suit your taste and a bunch of old retired guys, the sort you might find looking over the fence of a building site, proclaiming "That will never work!", "We did it much better in our day!", but peppered with a few younger and more agile minds!

Nevertheless, enjoy the madness!

Greetings All!

My name is David Matson.  I go by my gamertag of Elrendhel, which in itself is a relic of my days spent playing DnD as a kid.

I work for a major telecommunications company, working in the area of Ethernet deployment to a customer site as either an electrical or optical handoff.  I'm also the departmental computer guy.   Never getting enough computers at work, I have a home computer consulting business catering to local Mom & Pop businesses and residential clientele.

I have been a Forum Moderator and Writer for some Corporate clientele over the years, as well as at websites for Mobile Enthusiasts such as "MobilitySite" and "Dave's iPAQ".

I was a Microsoft Windows Mobile MVP for the 4 years between 2008 and 2011.

I am getting closer to retirement and wanted to get my workshop cleaned-up and ready to perform all of my future projects in.

As for actual hobbies, I honestly do not know where to begin.   Anything tinkering with computers, raspberry pi's and such keep me going.   I would love to expand into drones and robotics...

Hi,

I've had a great time watching the videos and am happy to join the forum.  As a kid I loved electronics and started my college education in electronic engineering. But switched and ended up as a business guy for my entire career. I retired in 2006 and then my wife and I sailed for 10 years and now I'm back on land.  A few years ago I visited my daughter in Korea and she wanted to learn about Arduino, so we walked the streets, bought stuff and built a fun little robot.  About a month ago I watched a video of our little guy and decided I wanted to do it again.  So I've been having a great time learning to program, working with motors, LCD, Ping, etc.  I'll build a good base that I can keep adding things to as I learn what I'm doing.

Thanks again for all the great information!

Jim
