Hi my name is Rob
I live in Pennsylvania and am currently sitting in my basement in my makeshift Arduino/electronics shop. I was fortunate with the current quarantine state to be able to move a back burner project to the foreground and work on it from home. I am an R&D Engineer with the majority of my experience in Machining, design and fabricating.
I have had an interest in Arduino and programming for quite a long time but like learning anything new you really need a problem to solve or a project to pursue to keep the learning motivated. I was fortunate to stumble across the DroneBot Workshop youtube channel which led me to here (Thanks Bill for the amazing videos).
My current project is making a single axis stepper stage to mount a hot wire anemometer to for taking wind readings across a fluid tank. The anemometer is pushing its data directly to Labview on a separate PC (already done). The part I am designing and building is the control for the stage (a 400mm Travel Length Linear Stage Actuator). Once I work out all of the desired controls then I will move from there to Fusion360 to design the enclosure, as well as all the mounting and finish components to button it up in a nice neat package.
I don't claim to be an expert on anything especially Arduino and electronics so if anyone has some tips/advice I am always willing to listen.
Thanks for taking the time to read this wall of text and if you have some free time and want to pitch some ideas into this project drop me a line.
TLDR; My name is Rob from PA and I like to make stuff...lol
Nice to meet you, I am a high school science and math teacher and electronic technology enthusiast. I love this website! it is how I got started on Arduino and circuit building 🙂
I live in Pennsylvania and am currently sitting in my basement ...
Tell me that is not your mom's basement :-). Just kidding. Glad you have your here with your background in R&D you should fit right in with this group.

Haha no, I own the basement. It is my work from home place during all of this pandemic stuff going on. I kind of like it because it is just me down here with the exception of an occasional visitor. Now if I could just get a protocol in place where they bring coffee down when they pop in for a visit. 😉
