Hi All,

I'm Trent from Arlington, Texas.

I stumbled upon DBW after deciding to dig into electronics a little deeper than I have in the past. I've always been a tinkerer. I feel like I'm comfortable with my knowledge of line voltage things. I do understand the basics of circuit design around the house. I've played with electronics all my life, but never really delved into the details. I've lit up marching band props while my children were in high school, but never got much into ICs and further.

Out of pandemic boredom (and out of money to purchase any more LEGO sets) I took to YouTube to see what I could learn about digital electronics. Well, I've fallen in love. Wiring up things and making them work is so satisfying. And it seemed like such an inexpensive hobby to enter. And it is! But like anything, you can find a way to spend money if you want. 🙂

I'm well on my way to getting my bench set up. I've also got some drawers packed with tools, Arduinos, ESP32s, IC kits, breadboards, jumper wiring, LEDs and various other sundries. I'm like a kid in a candy store with this stuff. I'm so anxious to dive into all manner of new things.

By day (and a lot of nights) I'm a software developer. Full title is Senior Software Architect / Manager of Development for a company here in the Metroplex. I've been developing for 40 years, getting paid to do it for 20+ and love it. Again, creating, seeing a finished product and even getting to see something you've done make someone else's life easier. Very rewarding. I'm a full stack Microsoft Developer on the .NET Framework.

I look forward to being a part of this community and learning from Bill and the rest of you. Maybe someday I'll get good enough to contribute!

See ya on the boards!

@DotNetCoderDFW

I enjoyed your post, and I share your enthusiasm (I'm certain we all do). I know that 'kid in a candy store' feeling. It's great when you can reach for a part and you have several to choose from. I'm setting up a second work bench because my other bench is getting covered with the projects I'm working on. There are a lot of members here that can help you with electronics, but it sounds like you have a lot knowledge to contribute too. I think we are all suffering a bit from pandemic boredom, and Making is a great hobby to get into to lift your spirits. I look forward to more of your posts (and pictures too!).
