Hello,

I am Arvind from Munich, with Physics, automation testing and Telecom background. I have retired and now wish to indulge in things I never got time while working.

My interest is in small projects which can help or assist in our day to day life and especially in home automation. I have a full KNX system installed at home. Now i wish to expand on it with some fun things and these fun things in the market are very expensive, so to begin with build them my self for personal use only.

Greetings from Munich AyDe was my nickname in college.

@zander Thank You for the Welcome, AyDe, I intergrade the old tech with the new. My interest is endowed with new open source programming (IOT projects). We are a product of a great electronic revaluation.

In my lifetime, I have come from a party-line ATT&T landline telephone to a wireless hand held computer.

Wow, what a concept..<grin>

Welcome Ayde. 👍

We have some intelligent LCD modules can be used for home automation, but we don't know how to connect with KNX, do you have any interested in this?

@ayde

Welcome ayda.

If these are your interests then have you had a look at the Arduino Project Hub? There are 100's of home projects there to explore.

This forum, Dronebot, is great for member to member interactions and I am sure you will find it invaluable.

Cheers

Hi Cindy,

I am now working on interfacing my Home Automations with displays.

I found that KNX is not a good platform for DIY projects. It is a very stable and reliable platform, working for the past 7 years without a single drop. The platform is not flexible and the communication protocol IC's are expensive and not sold to non KNX members/vendors.

However I did find interesting is that using platform like Home Assistant you can interface KNX and other platforms. Currently I have just installed the Home Assistant and got it working with my KNX installations.

Now I will start with ESP8266 devices to build a weather station and some other IR controlled lights to interface. to add to my home automation

When I have more progress I will write again here. If you ahve any specific topic we can discuss it here, i am aware of KNX system.

Ayde
