Hey, I'm Sherwyn

I'm interested in tinkering with projects that require some micro controllers. I have no programing experience but I'm open to learn. Hope you can put up with a lot of questions when I need them.

First question is where do you all get your electronics from? Amazon? Are there better places that are reasonable with shipping?

Thanks

S-

Hi Sherwyn @slamer,

Welcome to the forum. Please feel free to send in questions, but please read the dos and don'ts before posting, including posting your message in an appropriate section, as it makes things easier on everyone.

This part of the forum is really intended for personal introductions only, but I'll offer a couple of paragraphs of personal observation for your question.

As for where to buy, if you are lucky, you may have 'local' stores, but they are very limited in some places. Obviously, the service and cost depends on your location, so my comments are biased to where I live ... you will need to do your own research for your location.

Amazon and eBay are obvious starting points, and typically deliver quickly, but often include another price mark up by a third party. Mouser, DigiKey, Farnell etc. offer a professional service, but shipping is likely to be expensive for small orders. For personal use parts, I often use AliExpress for 'cheap and cheerful' parts. It is getting quicker at delivery, with marketing initiatives, such as 'Choice', where items are shipped in a few days, often for zero post cost, providing the total order (before tax, etc.) meets a minimum of about US $10; but please read each offer carefully, and be prepared for the occasional disappointment.

Best wishes and good luck, Dave

@davee Thanks for the heads up.

I made a topic here to continue the discussion. Hope this is the right spot.

Hi @slamer,

Sorry, but I can't see your post that you are referencing. Furthermore, the forum summary section is only showing 2 posts from you.

As you are a new member, I suspect your first few posts are being subjected to a manual approval process.

Hopefully, it will appear in a relatively short time, but please be patient in the meantime.

Best wishes, Dave
