Hi Steve, (@Burgy22).. I'm also new here, but was in the  industrial electrical/electronics and automation field for over 40 years.. Indeed, Bill does a great job of explaining wow to put the circuits together, and has many videos to peruse as well.. welcome to the Dronebot WorkShop...we'll all learn something new together..

regards,

Louis (@Inst-Tech)

Greetings one and all,

mikeaidanh, or just Mike, signing in. I am ex RN and a host of other ex's in my 80 years of existence. I am still in love with 4000 series cmos and I know that makes me a sad old sack but I can't help it

I got very excited about DB1 and now it seems to have stalled. What is the state of play with the project? I need to find out if my time scale will fit in. No point in salivating if not going to the feast!

Best wishes for Christmas and 2022,

Mike.

@mikeaidanh

Welcome Mike!  Yes, Bill has acknowledged that the DB1 project has stalled.  His future plans are to somewhat resurrect DB1 as maybe DB1+ or DB2.  It may be a totally different design though, so I guess that sounds more like DB2.

There were several of us here that were working right along with Bill on DB1 and really were disappointed when it fell by the wayside.  I even went so far as to make several custom PCB for the prototype boards that Bill put together.  @huckohio was another that made some custom PCBs.  I am anxiously awaiting the "rebirth" of whatever version of DBx comes along.

@codecage Many thanks for the response to my cry. I will wait patiently for new activity to occur. in the mean time there is plenty here to keep my mind busy.

Do you think a new design would completely alter the chassis arrangement? I would love to start building something and the rectangular chassis with its' motors and first stage of power distribution would give me something to get my teeth into.

Thanks once more,

Mike.

Not entirely clear whether it will be a new chassis or not.  I hoping it won't as I have quite an investment in my DB1, named Willy Nilly, so I really hope at least parts of it are still viable.
