I live in south central Pennsylvania and yes I have Amish neighbors. I am technically retired from an automation engineering company that I owned for 25 years. I could not sit still in retirement and so I also teach at a local college. When I was in the automation business I started to play with microprocessors as a hobby. I have been doing this for at least 10 years. One project that I got involved in was turning a microprocessor into a PLC. I use this in my classes and the students can learn about PLC using open source software with very little investment. I am very interested in using the ESP32 for many projects. The latest was to make a remote thermostat for my heating system. I monitor the temperature in my upstairs bedroom and turn on a circulator pump in my basement using ESP-NOW protocol.

I find the videos that you make to be very interesting. I can't imagine how many hours it must take to do the graphics, editing, and all the other research. During the pandemic I started to create videos for my classes and understand how much effort it takes.

Lately I have been using ChatGPT to help me with some programming. Its amazing how fast these AI models are but they are not perfect. I think this technology is going to accelerate and we will be able to design very complicated systems by leaning on the AI as tutor.

I look forward to exploring your forums to meet others that are interested in similar hobbies.
