Good evening
At least it is in the UK!
My name is Steve and I live 30 miles south of London in Kent. I'm a retired engineer that has worked in the shipping, power station, specialist machine tool, food and finally automated warehouse industries.
My interests are home automation and machine tools but I am just getting into robotics. looking forward to interacting with like minded people.
Regards
Steve
Good evening Steve,
Welcome to the forum.
As I’m sure you have discovered, there are many members on here with varied experience in both electronics and programming. Many of those members are also heavily involved in robotics.
I’m sure any of us would be more than willing to help you with any questions you may have.
We’d love to hear about what you are working on.
Best regards from Texas, USA

Hello Lee
I have seen some of the posts that interest me but I'm going to follow a couple of Bills videos first to get a feel for the servo's and PMW as I've used industrial drives but not at this level. The one's I've started are the mecanum wheel robot car and using servo motors with ESP32. ESP32 is my preferred board and I'm programming through Platformio.
My ultimum aim is to build a steam engine with robotic control to show both ends of the industrial age.
Regards
Steve

Hi @stevecot (Steve), and welcome to the forum..your steam engine project sounds interesting!
As @lee-g has already eluded to, there are many on here with varied experience in hardware and software development and projects. I also come from an industrial background as an instrument/electrical technician in process control for almost 50 years, retired now since 2014. Looking forward to seeing how you progress.
Have fun, and be safe...
Regards,
