Hi, my name is Erik and I live in the busiest western region in the Netherlands. I work in software development and I'm enthusiastic about electronics.

Although I have no formal training in this field I'm eager to learn, and I'm having a lot of fun in doing so. I'm at a point that I want to delve deeper and have a more firm grasp on the subject. My main source of information is the internet (youtube and written tutorials on maker sites, and PDF documents).

In about 2012 I found my 'missing link' when I started to toy with Arduino. I absolutely loved being able to have my own code interact with my own circuits, wow! After that I also started to toy with Raspberry PI.

My last project is soldering a small circuit board for my version of the Auduino project (standalone MCU, ATmega 328, granular software synth), and building it in a case with nice buttons. A nice toy to play with, and to be extended later on. Meanwhile I'm learning about DAC / ADC and I'm about to start experimenting with R2R ladders. That's besides some bread board circuits that I use to learn about various types of components.

Since I still have a modest setup I'm now preparing to start on the bench power supply from an ATX power supply.
This weekend I've taken apart an obsolete mini tower and scavanged a nice specimen. I'm now waiting for the needed parts to be delivered.

Recently I bought a cheap 8 channel usb logic analyzer, which I use to understand more about communication protocols. Today I used it to analyze the serial communication (data and clock line) from an old PS/2 mouse using an Arduino. The last few weeks I've been reading a lot about oscilloscopes.

Because of my wide range of interests, in the future I see myself build various kinds of projects/circuits. For example I'm thinking about drones, midi controllers, audio amplifiers, sound samplers, 3D scanners and printers, image processing, artificial intelligence, various means of electronic communication etc, etc. Enough to keep me busy for the next decades I guess 🙂

On the forum I hope to share pointers, experiences and enthusiasm, learn and to ask a question or two.

That's it for now .. looking forward to chatting with you on the forum!
