Hi, my name is Jerry. I've been looking over the forum and am feeling a little lost. Not familiar with electronics but this old dog is trying to learn some new tricks.

I'm a retired Steel worker, I worked in the quality control lab testing the steel for chemistry and strength. Also, spent some time trimming the steel by adding the alloys to it to make whatever grade we were trying to produce. This has led to some home casting. Melting metals and casting different things.

Why am I here?? I started to build a temp controller for my kiln and one thing led to another and now I'm into a whole other hobby. My grandson also built a robot in school and I sure like doing things with him. We would like to build a Drone.

I'll probably just keep reading and looking around on here to pick up the talk and terms. I've eaten a lot of Raspberry Pie but haven't used one to control anything. Thank You for this forum and all the instructional videos.

@jammer

Welcome to the forum!  I'm sure you will enjoy this group of folks and may get a lot of overwhelming support from them.

A word of caution though, as advised by another YouTube channel I watch quite a bit, and one that rates the DroneBotWorkshop channel as his top choice, building a drone is like building a flying blender.  In other words be VERY careful.

The channel that advises against building a drone, but is a great resource none the less: Paul McWhorter

And this channel has some great stuff on building a drone, check out his playlists: Joop Brokking
