I am a retired software developer. Worked mainly on Factory Automation writing the software. There were always other people available to do the tricky stuff with the hardware and low level drivers. For several years I have been exploring the Raspberry Pi Pico and ESP32 family. Have recently learned how to do very basic soldering. My currrent activity is ESP32 robot cars. I will seek out the appropriate forums for motor drivers.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I worked as a systems integrator for a couple of years. It is a very interesting field. We always used plc's and ladder logic to program them. For some reason it took me a while to learn how to think about code when writing ladder logic. I have a lot of respect for companies that make PLC's once they run they run forever and are very stable. I  think even Arduino came out with a plc. There are a few people on the forum that build robots and robot vehicles so you are in good company.
