Topic starter

Hi.

I'm new to electronics and have just started tinkering on the Arduino. I've been using the Raspi for a couple of years. Mostly to run whole home ad blocking (PieHole is a remarkably nice solution)

In particular I am interested in using the Arduino and Pi to interface to the 12v systems on my boat.

First I aim to make a 12v Bilge Pump Monitor and also learn how to monitor the 12v batteries.

I've been tinkering with voltage dividers so that I can have the Arduino read the 12v bank voltage and next up I'm going to try using an Optocoupler to sense when the 12v bilge pump comes on. A problem may be that the bilge pump could pull 12v at 6 amperes...

Anyway looking forward to learning.

Thank you !
