Hi all,
I'm a retired software engineer with bachelors degrees in electronics and computer engineering (yeah, that was a long time ago, era of PDP11/VAX and Intel 8080, trips to UK and USA for computer training).
Now I am picking up my old hobby in electronics again, using microcontrollers, Raspberry Pi's and lots of modules available (in stead of loose transistors, resistors and 7400-series chips).
Though I've used many computer programming languages in my work, I am using python for the things (small) I do for myself, and now also micropython whenever possible. On my home pc's I use (k)ubuntu linux, and one pc running windows 10.
Currently I'm working on:
- How much less energy will my fridge use when a fan blowing at the radiator in the back? How much money will I save?
- make a few electric lego modell cars drive around in my room and have them work together. This is a long term project made up of many smaller pieces. The first one is making a rPi AI camera identify and follow these cars.
- get started with home automation: a rPi, HomeAssistant and connect my heating, above fridge, a doorbell
Pingpong is fun
