Hi all, first time here. Just got approved by the forum overlord. I hail from Malta, EU and I work as IT Director IRL. I got to know of this forum (and subsequently YouTube channel) when I was googling for Wild Thumper wheel dimensions for a project I'm working on and I was impressed with the technical depth the videos go into and I'm looking forward for more videos about the rover project (why are the videos not on YT btw?)

The project I'm working on is based on the WT chassis as well, but the only parts I'm keeping from the WT is the metal chassis. Everything else is being replaced. Here's a screenshot of the wip design (being built on OnShape):

Motors will be 42mm, 24V, 100RPM with enough torque that the robot can climb vertically (not that it will haha). End goal is a rover that will be able to do self navigation using 3D and Lidar SLAM, with a web interface to see and interact with 3D map and set goal poses. Bill told me that he's working on a Rocker Bogie design for the Wild Thumper, so I'm looking forward to see how's he's going to do that, cause I might ditch my suspension design for his design if I can adapt the motors. I've got lots of questions related to the project including self charging designs, so I hope I'll be able to glean a bit of your expertise, as well as give a helping hand to other members whenever I can.

Looking forward to interacting with you all.

@noodle

Welcome to the forum.

Anything seems possible when you don't know what you're talking about.
