I have the basic Elegoo Uno kit. I'll build the project on a breadboard when my order of Arduino Nano's arrive today.

Thanks for the update.

@chucketn I think my project described on the other site is clear. I have been fooling with this for several weeks and I think I have made most of the mistakes possible!  However, there are always bugs and defects that can go unnoticed. When you get going, if things seem confusing or something doesn't work, please post any questions here and I'll do anything I can to help.  Also. Bill's youtube video on IR remotes is very informative, and it's worth the 35 minutes investment to pick up all the gems he presents:

He has also put together a great web page to go along with it:

Finally, let us know how you make out.  It's always good to know we've inspired someone!

Looking at the breadboard layout with Nano, the red status led is not connected to anything at the right end of it's current limiting resistor. Should that go to pin 5 of the Nano?

Indeed it should!  I shall have to update the Fritzing diagram ASAP.  Thanks for the feedback.

@chucketn I suggest you get a fresh copy of the sketch from the website.  I found a minor bug and fixed it.  The system now returns to "run" mode from "learn" mode as soon as the toggle switch is flipped, as opposed to waiting an arbitrary 10 seconds.

@ve1dx

I downloaded the revised sketch and schematic. Need to dig out my larger breadboard to build it.

Thanks, Paul.
