Hey All, thanks in advance for the help. Hopefully the correct forum or even website for this.
I salvaged this motor from an air conditioner unit. I ripped the whole thing apart before carefully inspecting and considering what I'd need to keep. I have lots of info on it and probably all I need but my novice level isn't allowing me to see that if so.
I need to verify the capacitor I intend to buy and if it needs a centrifugal switch.
I've discovered it needs a start up capacitor because of it's type. I found a formula that leads me to believe a 250v 5uf capacitor will work. The wiring diagram on the side gives me all the other info I need except for the centrifugal switch shown. I do recall the original capacitor being a two stage (correct nomenclature?) it had 3 poles that both motor and compressor were hooked into but am unclear if it's possible for a capacitor to act as both a start up capacitor and run capacitor as well as switch on it's own between the two.
The motor itself does not have a centrifugal switch inside (I took it apart and looked) so it would require some sort of external switch to do that if it requires one. The wiring diagram on the motor seems unclear to me. Probably not to an expert who knows already.
Attached pics of the motor and close up of label on housing.
Post has been approved and there may be some here that can offer help. but I would rate this post 'off topic' since most of what we encounter and work with on this forum is low voltage DC devices. You're talking about high voltage AC with this motor and I would be very hesitant to offer any advice that might be used improperly and cause any bodily harm.
There might be better forums for this type of question. An HVAC forum comes to mind, but I don't have any first hand knowledge of those type of forums.

@codecage thank you. Understood and kinda figured that out as I was looking for a place to locate the topic. I opted to continue give the high level of knowledge of electronics on the site. I’ll leave it in the hopes of getting an answer.
I plan to repurpose this motor as a ventilation hood.
Thanks!
cheers
