  1. Hi,

    I’m converting an ATX power supply into a bench supply just like the video. I have a question on connecting the shunt thick black wire .

    Is the thick black wire of the shunt connector connected to the any of the same ground binding posts for the 3.3, 5, & 12 vdc outputs? Or should this be a separate ground connection to chassis?

@hawgmech

If you are referring to the larger gauge black wire on the same model Volt/Amp meter that Bill is using in his video, the the answer is YES.  The ground for the 3.3V, 5V, and 12V are all common and should have the heavy black wire connected to the same ground.  The heavy red wire on that same connector is the ground for the load you are measuring and is a separate ground that should NOT be connected to the common ground for the 3.3V, 5V, and 12V supplies.

Hope that helps! 😀
