Stay safe. Give access to your sister as well and if possible, please get diagnosed at least.

Diagnosis is on the near horizon.  My sister has gone into thermonuclear meltdown threatening to erupt in a cloud of poisonous radiation if I don't get my butt over to the ER ASAP!

I told her the best I can do is tomorrow by noon. 😎

She let out a burst of super-heated steam that shot off to the clouds carrying with it words that aren't suitable to be repeated on any respectable forum venue.  #%*&*^%#@!~:(*!!!

But then she said in a loving sisterly voice, "I know I can't tell you what to do".

To which I replied, "I thank you very much for letting me be me" 😊

So tomorrow I'll go over to the ER and if they ask me why I'm there, I'll say, "My sister made me do it". 🤣

~~~~~
In any case, at that point I predict one of three things will occur:
  • They will exam me, discover my problem, give me some quick medications, and send right back home again.   Yippee!!!    (almost too good to be true)  So good that it's not likely to happen.
  • They will exam me, discover my problem, say there is no medications for this, and send right back home again to heal on my own.   That wouldn't be too bad.  At least that way I could come back home with some hope that I just need to wait this out.
  • They could exam me, discover I have some horrible condition that they can't cure, but keep me in the hospital anyway just to torture me before I finally cross over to the other side. 😲 I confess that this is a bit of a genuine concern.
I guess there are other possible scenarios.  They could diagnose me with a curable disease.  Keep me for a while to torture me until I've been there just long enough to be in complete financial bankruptcy, and then send me back home as a pauper to try to survive on sporadic $600 stimulus checks.
Anyway, the mystery should be solved by tomorrow.  I won't be able to post from anymore from the hospital so I'll try to get my sister to post an update as "Robo's Nemesis", errrr, I mean as "Robo's Sis".
OR, with any luck I'll be sent home with medications right off the bat and not have to stay in the hospital but for a few moments.  That's almost too good to be true there.  But certainly the most preferred outcome.
So we'll find out tomorrow.
In the meantime I'm going to enjoy a really nice hot bath and sleeping in my own bed tonight.  My sister wanted to rob me of that.  Shame on her.  What's one more day?  She needs to take a course on "How to enjoy procrastination to the fullest" 🥂
By the way, I just took some pain medication and I feel much better now.  But I know that this is just an artificial dampening of the symptoms.   I'll have to remember to take some more pain pills before I go over to the ER.  Thank goodness for pain pills.
Besides, I doubt your sister is as good a poet as you are!
She's a painter.  Among other things:
You can see some of her paintings on Her Baybeari Etsy Shop
She also does requests on occasions.   She's mostly into painting pets, wildlife, flowers, etc.
But on occasion she has done some paintings of mechanical things like this antique Packard:
If you have a pet you would like to have a painting of she might do it.  Not sure though as she only does this on the side anymore, so it depends on how busy she is with her real work, etc.   Plus she's having her home remodeled right now too and that might limit her workspace.
Don't know if she would be interested in painting the portrait of a robot, but one can always ask. 👍
I usually do.  I just like to frustrate her first.  After all, that's what brothers are supposed to do aren't they? 😎    I don't want to go against millions of years of primate evolution.
I want to get back to work!
Before I became incapacitated here I was working on my perceptron program in Python and Scikit-Learn.  I'm building models using those programming techniques to construct physical neural networks using FPGA's, CPDL's along with some Op Amps on circuit boards designed with KiCad.  And when those are done I hope to implement those finished products in my Alysha Linguistic AI program.
I'm sure some of you have seen me make posts on these various projects.  They are all related and starting to come together.   Sure would be nice to finish those projects.   I was also hoping on making some Vlog videos of how I'm doing all these things.
In addition to that I was working on my close-up Raspberry Pi camera module as per my recent thread on that topic.   This is so I can film my lathe work.   Speaking of lathes,...
Tell my sister to look the other way because she doesn't know about the following:
But lookie at what I bought this summer:
No 3 Lathe 1
I ought to be able to build some hefty robot parts with this baby huh?
It's a 16" x 38" No. 3 Warner $ Swasey turret lathe.
If my sister ever finds out about this I'm dead meat.  Shhhhhhhhh!
Mums the word!  First person that mentions this to James' sister is a rotten egg!  😷
Wow that is amazing, maybe you can build what's in this video:  My Latest DB1
The video is what Willie Nillie (my current DB1) aspires to.
Hope we're hearing from you and you're on the mend real soon!
Take care James.
You better watch out James, there are so many people on this forum who care for you and who are concerned about your health that someone may just use this as a blackmail attempt - ie. "go to the hospital get diagnosed or we're mailing the picture to your sister"!
😏
So as the forum owner I'm adding another rule to the list - "No Blackmail attempts against other forum members will be tolerated"!!
I really hope to hear that you are on the mend.
That is reallly amazing, definitely the best thing I've seen in a long time! And I'm jealous of both the robots and the fact that the video got almost 4 million views in a day! Boston Dynamics are truly astounding.
Get well soon James!
They dont ask such questions here at least at the places I go... maybe because they know I cannot say anything similar to your reply.
Your good health has been in my thoughts and I do pray that you do not get into the bad things.
You will be asked to undergo some tests and then some medications and probably a prescription diet for a while. Fingers crossed.
"Forum Members" thanks for not including "Forum Moderators" - the latter are superior and more important to any forum.
So true!  That video is a robotics engineer's pipe dream.  And yes, I am hoping to build something as sturdy as those with my new lathe.   But whether it will be as agile or capable is a whole other story.
A Word About My Sister
She's among the most loving, compassionate, humanitarians on the planet.   I'm the evil demon who is always giving her a hard time.  I know, shame on me.  What can I say, nobody's perfect.
Besides, a few years ago, she bought me the following for my birthday:
AA Chevy Side View
So she has a heart as big as a 1947 Chevy Fleetline.   It runs too! 😊
~~~~

I'll be leaving for the ER here in a couple hours.  Hope to be sent home by tonight.  Maybe I just stubbed my toe and these are the side affects.   Positive thinking, right Bill?

I'll either be home soon to end this mystery.  Or my sister will finally be forced to logon to the forum and explain what's taking so long.

Then you guys can harass her. 🤣

Just kidding.  I know all you guys are as nice as my sister.  I'm the bad apple out.  I don't know how you guys put up with me.   Most of my threads never stay on topic anyway.   This one started out proclaiming that I have Covid-19 only to end up proving me to be an idiot.

Hey, how could I have known?   A lot of the symptoms seems to be Covid-like.  What else was I supposed to assume?   Even my doctor sent me over for a Covid test right away.

By the way, my sister points out that 54% of Covid tests that come back negative are actually faulty testing somewhere along the way.  And we know now that the sister is always right. 🌺

The tester who took my sample didn't stick the swab very far up my nose.  So who knows?  Covid may still be the culprit here.  Not that I'm rooting for it, but ruling it out entirely from a test that has such a poor success rate leaves a lot of possibilities open.

In any case, it's almost D-day here.   I'll see you when I get back.  Stay healthy, stay home, and wear a mask!

And don't forget to build some cool robots too! 😎   That's the most important thing.

Positive thinking indeed James. Hopefully, you won't find out that you have an allergy to robots.

I hope everything goes well and you're back home soon, working on your many projects and delighting us with your witty poetry.

I will be thinking of you and sending you best wishes from up here in the "Great White North" (which isn't very white at the moment as we don't have a drop of snow anywhere around here).

Take care and stay strong.

Hello fellow robotians.  I'm home from the ER!  Yippee! 😊

And the WINNER is,.....

~~~ Bacterial Pneumonia ~~~
Whoever thought that bacterial pneumonia would be a welcome disease?   It's better than Covid-19 or Lung Cancer I guess.
I'll take it! 🥂
So I've been released from the wonderful care of the healthcare workers.  And now I have antibiotics I can take that will hopefully put this misery into past history.   It's just a matter of some recovery time now.  I'm still in some pretty nasty pain, but hopefully this will all become ancient history as we move on into 2021.
Sorry for all the false alarms.  I had no idea what to expect.   I was also tested a second time at the hospital for Covid-19.   This time they used a very long swab and put me through some torture just to take the test.  Apparently they were able to get result from that test pretty darn quick.  And that test came back negative too.  So no Covid for me.   Hallelujah!
So now I'm all set and will hopefully be back at studying perceptrons and building robots real soon.
I imagine this is going to cost an arm and a leg when I get the ER bill.  But it had to be done.  How else could I know that I needed $40 worth of antibiotics?  The actual medication is the cheap part.
But no complaints here.  At least I don't have Covid, and it isn't cancer either.  So I guess I avoided a direct hit on this one.
Thanks for reading my medical drama and may you all have a safe and happy new year!
robo old boy, I've just been catching up on your posts, and what do you know, you pop up again, back in your home in the woods just as I get to then end of the posts.   Well thats good news, and nice to see you back.  I somehow think a bout of pneumonia isn't going to stop your robots progress for too long but nowt wrong in putting the feet up for a few weeks.  Keep that fire burning and keep out of the cold. Dont risk double pneumonia or you sister for one will surely rant volubly enough to damage your eardrum. 😀
@robo-pi
I never thought that I would consider Bacterial Pneumonia to be "good news", but in this case, it is definitely the lesser of two evils. And I'm so glad that you received the antibiotics you need to recover.
I'll certainly sleep better tonight after hearing this, thanks for updating us so soon. And I'm sure your sister is much happier after hearing the news.
Take your medicine and get some rest, James. You'll be serenading us with your poetry in no time!
Happy New Year (a couple of days early)!
Glad you're back and now your sister gets to say, "I told you so!". But really glad you listened to her.
