Hello everyone,

I’m working on a project that combines WiFi and wired networks for redundancy in my robotic platform. I found the WIZ820IO module and I’m exploring using it as the wired Ethernet interface for control / telemetry.

I’m building a control / telemetry system for a drone or rover where WiFi might drop or be unreliable; Ethernet provides a fallback or ground-station link. The module would run network stacking / bridging logic, sending sensor and control data to ground stations via whichever interface is active. Power, latency, and switching logic are key constraints.

For telemetry / control data, which path (WiFi vs Ethernet) would you prefer under which conditions? Do you have logic to dynamically switch? On the software side, any tips for maintaining consistent communication when switching interfaces (buffering, packet handling, failover logic)?

I’d appreciate any experiences, suggestions, or pointers to similar projects. Thanks in advance!

JM

I don't think an Ethernet cable attached to your drone or rover is a good idea Is that what you meant ?
