I have been using the "ESP32 Bus Pirate" code on an ESP32S3 devkit board (from Aliexpress as is my habit).

Its very useful for investigating and debugging.
I also find the inexpensive breakout board extrermely useful because , for reasons I do not understand, the esp32-s3 modules do not fit well into most breadboards, and only one side of the pins can be accessed.

If you want to try this setup out, do get the breadboard for the small extra cost its well worth it.
