Does the TFT touchscreen plug into an UNO as a shield?
Yes, I am going to put it on a Mega, for access to more pins.
But I was thinking as the library is merely additional code and has no real extra powers, overriding the SS pin should cause no problems as the µcontroller will be at the mercy of the TFT or SD code while the SS pin is being forced HIGH to block addressing the nrf24l01.

OK, you can try it... experimenting is the only way to learn!
I have a 2.4" touch-display-screens, and it works quite well, so looking forward to see how you go with it.
BTW... a new Arduino IDE, version 1.8.12 has been released for anyone who didn't get the notification.
Likewise, arduino-pro-ide-0.0.5-alpha.preview was released a very short time ago with some more bug fixes... I like it's dark theme, and so far it has worked OK for me.
