Hi all,

Just had an update from the Arduino network that the Arduino IDE 2.0 is now available as a stable production release.

See the Arduino link.

Cheers

Edit:  If you have it installed already...

Could you do me a big favor?  Can you tell me if they still have this option in the new one?  It would save me having to download (multiple hours) and find out they took it out and me deleting it.

I cant I'm afraid, I haven't downloaded it yet!

I just wanted to pass on the news as a 'hot of the press' update for members.

We crossed in ether...  I think others are using it, maybe someone will see your thread and let me know.  I think @zander and @frogandtoad like being Arduino QC staff. 😆

Thanks @will.  Looks like they knew that 1.8.x was deficient as an editor and let you use something external... and now... they want you to love the full glory of 2.0.0. 🙄

Sorry for being late to the party, but yes, I have been using it since it's release, as I usually download the portable nightly build .zip versions every few days; to a week to test them out.

It is still being updated nightly, and you can check out the issue tracker for the latest information.

I am a big fan of this new IDE over its predecessor, but it would be nice if they reinstated the "Copy to HTML" feature for posting to this forum.

Otherwise, I really like the dark mode with syntax highlighting (it's a little easier on my eyes), and of course, the intellisense and debugging for supported boards are a bonus.  Likewise, I find that it compiles and uploads much faster than its predecessor, so at this stage, I see no reason why it's shouldn't be the go to IDE moving forward, unless you have a specific need for its predecessor.

Cheers
