I only have one so there's no choice available.Β  Thanks

Sure, but did you confirm that it is the one selected as shown?
Also, please confirm if you're still having a problem or whether all is now good πŸ™‚

I see.Β  Even though it only shows 1 Com port, it has to be selected, ie shown with a tick.Β  Thanks for the heads-up.Β  Yes, the problem has been resolved.

Thanks again.

You do realize that when you use the Arduino IDE to program an Arduino and you are successful because you have the right COM port selected, that when you close the IDE down and then load it back up later, that it comes back using the last COM port you had selected.Β  If you have used a different Arduino even plugged into the same USB connector on your computerΒ  as you used last time, you may now be on a different COM port.Β  It is good operating procedure to check the COM port the IDE is set up for and check your COM port devices to see what COM port the Arduino has been assigned.Β  This needs to be done every time and the IDE reconfigured as needed.Β  You just can't assume that everything is OK.Β  In fact, this is the leading reason why things worked just fine last time and now doesn't work.

Please don't take this as any type of admonishment, but just food for thought and something we all have to be aware of.Β  Β It will become second nature as you gain experience, especially if you fail to check on multiple occasions as I have done may times in the past.Β  It becomes even more essential to double check your configuration when you start using other Arduinos like the Nano, MEGA2560, ProMini, and many other devices other than Arduinos.

When changing a Arduino board with another I had port not found problems.Β  Β Now I first go to Tools -> Board to make sure I have the right board selected and then to Tools -> Port and actually click the port shown even if it was showing the correct port and that seemed to fix the port not found problems.
