TMP117 Precision Temperature Sensor - Build a WiFi Thermometer

Let’s build a WiFi Precision Thermometer using the TMP117 temperature sensor. We’ll also see how it compares to other sensors.

We’ve looked at many temperature sensors in the past, but the TMP117 from Texas Instruments is in a class by itself. It’s a calibrated precision temperature sensor with an incredible accuracy of ±0.1℃ and resolution down to 0.0078℃.

Adafruit (as well as Sparkfun) has created a module that makes the TMP117 really easy to work with, and today we are going to check it out. It’s an I²C module with Qwiic connectors, so it's simple to hook up, and their library makes it very easy to use.

We’ll check out this temperature sensor and compare it to other popular sensors. After that, we’ll use the sensor to build a precision thermometer with both an OLED and a WiFi interface. It’s a cool project that uses Qwiic connectors, so assembly takes just a few seconds!
