Let’s check out the new Arduino Nano R4 board. We’ll also look at the Arduino Nano Connector Carrier Board, which can be used with any Nano.

Arduino has released yet another member of its ever-expanding Nano family. This time it’s the Arduino Nano R4, a board based upon the same Renesas microcontroller used in the Arduino Uno R4 Mimima and WiFi boards.

This gives the Nano R4 5-volt logic, like the Uno R4 boards. It also has a 3.3-volt Qwiic connector for I2C.

The Nano R4 has some interesting features, including a DAC, real-time clock, and an operational amplifier. We’ll see how to get these working (currently, there is a bug in the OPAMP library; I will show you how to repair it).

Here is the Table of Contents for the video:

00:00 - Introduction
01:05 - Arduino Nano R4
05:18 - 5-Volt Logic
07:12 - Look at Nano R4
08:11 - IDE Setup & Sample Code
11:17 - Real Time Clock
17:52 - Digital to Analog Converter
21:40 - Operational Amplifier
27:04 - Arduino Nano Connector Carrier
29:23 - Conclusion

The Nano R4 is an interesting board and a great addition to the Nano family.

I hope you enjoy the video!

Been messing around with the RTC on the Nano R4. What I wanted to do was set the time on one of my R4s and then use that to set the time on my other R4s. Tried connecting the I2C bus and ground, then got the current time and set the current time. It was fun watching my display ping pong from the current time to all 0s from one R4 to the other. Anyone with the right way to do this? Thanks for your help, EricS5s.

@erics5s

If it works, its the right way !

If your are so inclined you could connect nrf2401 modules to each one then you can communicate using radio.
